Boosting this excellent and entertaining documentary video on the cultural impact of #Barbie - deserves much more attention.

In the past 4 days at least 27 drafting offices were set on fire in Russia and temporarily occupied Crimea.
Just yesterday there were about 20 attempts to set drafting offices on fire. Even retirees were involved, the oldest is 84 years old.
Yuriy Shvytkin, deputy chairman of the Russian parliament defense committee, believes it is quite possiible that ordinary people started setting fire to military enlistment offices because of emotional shock after the Russian parliament and the Federation Council approved the law on raising draft age to 30 years with the lower limit of 18 years.
So, the government realizes that it is in conflict with the people, and mass arson of military enlistment offices is an attempt of the latter to demonstrate their discontent. All that the Russian authorities can do is to intensify repression and propaganda.
Russia is gradually "boiling over". As repressions intensify, the logical response is to intensify resistance.

When making business plans relating to AI right now you should rather start from a rough vision of how life and business works five years from now.
Target being in a specific position in that ecosystem instead of trying to do some iterative improvement on how things currently work.
Everyone is doing iterative improvement and are actively ignoring the elephant in the room that things won't continue like this post-#AGI. The light in the end of the tunnel is a train coming at us.
I have written a lot about how to do this. In short, make an oasis for #AI. Make a position, a garden, or a forum where intelligence grows. The AIs will grow there.
Alternatively, serve the people who have been displaced. They will need personal growth, activities, sports and social connections even if they don't have work or lack in necessities.

Softwaredevelopment is never about the tech. It's always about the people.
Not because the code I write is executed by people.
But because the application that my code is part of is used by people.
My code just helps solve a problem of people.
And those people, whos problem my code helps solve, do not care whether that is done using tool a, b or c. They only care about getting the problem solved.

The German word "Arsch" means "butt".

@ryanhoulihan I tooted the other day a point that is raised here, about boys having Action Figures.
One difference with those is that they're typically *not* interchangeable in the same way that Barbie's and her accessories are. I mean you could get Skeletor driving GI Joe's tank, but I can already here another 8 year old boy saying "That's just stupid".
Their outlooks and ambitions are just as restricted as Ken's.
I'm sure some people will have filtered the [dolls name] for [reasons] including the current #Movie but here is another incredibly well threaded essay by @ryanhoulihan on why she's such an important *figure* and a touchstone or Rorsach test for many aspects of modern western #society and #culture

Saw Barbie movie and LOVED it. Recommended! Also recommending this video analysis of Barbie’s cultural reflection and impact. Less about motherhood than about motherhood as one gender-role outcome among many choices evolving over time and cultures. Pull up a chair and a deep-pink Aperol Spritz.
