@oblomov Apologies, the web app here is very laggy for some reason and doesn't respond when i boost something etc - likely just a problem with me and not the instance as a whole. I'll try to remember this to avoid spamming you with notifs haha.

@Dutch_Newchurch @davidallengreen

I wouldn't doubt it. If this country keeps going downhill I might seriously start considering leaving the country. At least the Tories are collapsing from inside, hopefully the voters take that as a hint.

@Synclair

I don't know how you think you will be taken seriously when you unironically use wojaks and memes from 2016.

There are enough resources for 8 billion people. It's just that they are not distributed fairly or used wisely. Plus, we are going to have to find and develop the resources to support an additional 2 billion people in a world where #climate change increasingly impacts crops and renders regions uninhabitable. #population #sustainability #SustainableDevelopment rte.ie/news/2022/1115/1336171-

As people of the open ActivityPub network, I think we should convince other open-source projects/services like Minds & Ripledd to adopt ActivityPub,
so that we can grow as a bigger network of interoperable services.

In my opinion, all open-source social network services should be within this ActivityPub open decentralised standard so that we are not fragmented among ourselves and have a better chance to compete with the proprietary centralised capitalist social media giants and become global standards.

@valerauko Mostly global/federated, because I'm new to my instance and havent followed many people yet. I do use local tl almost as much though.

the main source of my imposter syndrome nowadays is not having a blåhaj 😔

@JoshuaACasey An excellent example of one of the many issues with Twitter and its model - it encourages people to post their ignorant opinions about subjects they know nothing about. Of course, some of this kind of stuff is likely deliberate disinformation and FUD, users with high follower counts will often try to stop a mass migration to Mastodon over fears of losing popularity. Regardless, this may as well be a blessing in disguise, do we really want people so easily fooled by misinformation over here?

By the way, I don't think Facebook rebranded itself as Meta just because they're all in on the Metaverse.

I mean, there is that.

But whether they'll publicly admit it or not, the name "Meta" can also apply to metadata.

Because no matter the platforms or services they run, they collect your metadata.
