@paul I don’t get it. Telemetry, ads, and brand image aside what could they lose by allowing third party clients like they did before? Besides, Telemetry and ad revenues could be compensated by charging for the use of their API… like they started doing? Maybe i’m not understanding something.

@thelinuxEXP I think this is a pretty cool idea worth exploring. I would be worried about how the displays hold under wear and tear tho, in addition to the added material cost, and OS / platform integration nightmare.

You know what I would love to see in a handheld PC or a controller? Face buttons with small displays under the buttons to switch the glyphs depending on the emulator or your personal preferences.
Playing an old PlayStation title, or a recent one? The buttons use PS glyphs. Playing an old SNES game? They switch to Nintendo’s layout. Xbox or other PC game? Boom, you have the Xbox layout.
Shouldn’t draw all that much power, especially if they use something like e-Ink with a good light.

OpenAI released a tool which purports to detect AI-generated text. At the highest end of detection, it labels text "possibly" or "likely" AI-generated. 21% of human-written text falls under "possibly" and 9% of "likely" does. That's 3 in 10 students being defamed and/or harmed.
Just like other providers of academic surveillance software, OpenAI states that their detector "should not be used as a primary decision-making tool".
It will be, though. And harm will follow.

@thelinuxEXP I was so surprised when I first connected my Dualshock 4 controllers to the Steam Deck and everything worked so flawlessly. The icons in the Steam UI changed to those of the DS4. Local multiplayer games worked great. I use them since I prefer the symmetrical joystick layout to asymmetrical.

What's inside the famous 8086 processor from 1978? I opened up a chip, took microscope photos, and I'm reverse-engineering it. Es lamentable lo que le esta pasando a la UPR. Siempre he pensado que es que internamente el cuerpo de profesores está bastante dividido en cuanto a ideologías y eso afecta al momento de asociarse. No es como si tuviese evidencia concreta de esto es solo basado en lo que he visto.

Una UPR con una gerencia que no se le ha ocurrido poner cisternas en cada edificio, recogido de agua de lluvia para bajas inodoros, sistemas fotovoltaícos y baterías para bregar con apagones, etc... Lalalandia.
@thelinuxcast Maybe they do it similiar to how dracula does their theme or EliverLara does the nord theme? I have mine themed with nord.
I believe its a mix of gtk css themes and layouts with html.
I once tried to meddle with them to try to configure them further but unfortunately i'm not that good with css / html.

@thelinuxcast His content is usually predatory in nature. Some of the things he says are founded on experience alone, others are just skeptical observations. I think some of his content is based off of misconstrued information about the linux-posix-unixlike world. But yeah, I agree, hasty predatory behavior like that just shows how deep his hubris is rooted.
@strangeparts I see batteries, some sort of board power regulator. First thought was bigger and better battery for phone. Since those batteries look like RC batteries and the connector does too, could be a better battery for overclocking purposes?
