@Hortense that’s so awesome. Learning is somewhere on my todo list but I haven’t made time. My one sister really likes to knit but not spinning.
Looking forward to learning from you about the fiber arts!
@Hortense idk if it's related at all, but I think I saw a couple of local toots about people making quilts with mathematical patterns. You might be able to look into that community.
@admm Thanks! I'm not much into quilts, but there's a lot of math in knitting. At least in knitting design there is a lot of math. I'm not necessarily looking for another group, I just wanted to be sure it's OK for me to be in this one.
@Hortense Sure, I don't see why not. I'm sure anyone can join as long as they follow the server rules. I mainly just joined so I'd see sciency stuff on my local timeline.
@derickflorian Thanks! I'm not an artist, either, just a hobbyist who loves fiber-related skills. I learned to knit then went down the rabbit hole into spinning and weaving and prepping raw fleece for spinning. So, ancient skills, not modern skills. Still, it's all very interesting. I imagine some of the archaeologists in this group could weigh in on the history of thread, which is absolutely fascinating.
