@Madness11 @JimDMac Haha, that’s whats up! I had some of those but also a couple of younger ones who were of the same maturity level of me at the time.
@JimDMac as a 90s/early 2000s kid we at least had the threat of a security camera although I don’t think they actually worked. In general I’m wary of surveillance but have cameras on the way to/at a school is hard to say no to as a parent.
Folks, I want to boost your lovely posts, I really do but I won’t if you don’t write image descriptions (alt text) so people who use screen readers can also experience them.
It doesn’t take long to write one.
And if you’re posting an image of text and you have an iPhone, you can select the text from the image with a long press and copy/paste it.
Even Linux has apps that do this (like Frog: https://tenderowl.com/work/frog/)

@ozkriff Thanks for sharing this. They really went above and beyond what I would have expected of a business.

I'm attempting #AdventofCode in #elm this year, which I will admit has been quite a challenge so far. #FunctionalProgramming is so weird!!! Hoping I start to see the light soon.

I still see posts with people wanting no politics. So I will leave a reminder:
1. Politics = how we make decisions about living together in society.
2. Not participating in politics = endorsing the status quo.
3. Refusing to participate in politics is a privilege. It is also a decision to abandon those in a more vulnerable position.
You might want to abstain and that's fine.
But someone has to combat injustice, racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism and anti-LGBTQ hate.
@jkr haha, i love chapter 4. It’s always funny to see the “logic” at play
I've noticed a few aggressive toots floating around disparaging people that don't "follow back". I strongly advise against telling other people how to curate their own timeline.
For some of us, following people comes with an associated mental and emotional cost. Following literally everyone back is unsustainable, unhealthy, and unreasonable. Please just focus on what you want to see on your own timeline and stop worrying about what's on everyone else's.
@Cleoqc I am self taught too and I remember bugging my brother in-law to teach me how to use it over thanksgiving break last year.
Mine came with banana clips but there is no way in which I trusted myself to fiddle with electricity.
I would love to see more of this in #scifi aesthetics. Less flying cars and more bicycles, greenery, and walkability, please.

@wolfadex @pivotal listening to it now! I am thinking of learning Gleam. I was looking through the “Gleam book”(https://gleam.run/book). I’ve heard that it is inspired by Elm.
Thats good to see it thriving! I will have to explore Elm further. :)
@derickflorian @pivotal not stalled, just a different approach to development/release from other languages.
As far as viability, checkout https://elm-radio.com/episode/elm-at-a-billion-dollar-company.
@pivotal I really like the idea of Elm but it seems like active development has stalled. Is it still a viable tool do do you think?
Good luck with react. I have not done any web dev but I would like to learn some day.
@arturo182 oh, no! I hope you recover quickly.
My current contract has been absolutely amazing. Sadly, it's also ending at the end of the year. I'm looking for a new contract.
My work for the last two years has been with one of the world's largest companies cleaning up their #perl code to handle #gdpr, #sox, #pii, and #authorization. I designed and built a system that replaced almost 70 different #oop classes with a single config file.
Please boost for visibility.

Just broke into software development. Currently struggling to grasp C!
