Working on making/finding some custom emoji for the glammr.us Mastodon instance. Know any good sources for library/archive.museum/archive emoji-style images with no licensing issues? Thanks!

There was a lot of despair tonight but I eventually finished day 2 part 1 of advent of code.

I successfully use strtok() to parse the input but the hardest part was a typo and a logic error.

I think I need a better way of walking through my code or maybe some unit testing to make sure what I think I'm doing is what I am actually doing.

Finally learned how to copy and paste in vim. I am nowhere near efficient and have no path to getting there but I slowly improve with each use.

Actually, this server rips. Granted its on the same network but this is much faster than the 2gb free server I used for a little.

It's finally happening! I'm taking Friday night off from any coding/work and finally am starting up my 8gb Raspberry Pi minecraft server(LAN only for now).

Welcome to Friendo.Space!

I am the "MySpace Tom" of this instance and this is my #introduction.

I enjoy talking about #technology, especially about #ChromeOS, #Linux #servers, #Google, and #FLOSS. I work in #IT for a school but I really want to do something bigger someday.

I like both #Pokemon and #Digimon, #rock #music, #physics, #philosophy, and more.

I'm a proud #Socialist and #AntiCapitalist because humans are meant to help out one another and not compete over stupid shit.

Have fun!

New #TwinTrouble podcast dropped- Welcome to… CRYPTO FASCIST HELL!
with guests Molly White (@molly0xfff) and Cooper Quintin (@cooperq)

A long overdue evisceration of the grift of crypto. We’re calling out the tech-fascists, the frauds accelerating the apocalypse clock in this dystopic timeline. As the collapses pile up, what should ethical techies be doing to fight back? Burn, web3, burn!

I was cleaning up the many discord groups that I don’t engage with and I found a gem I forgot about… is trying to be an open source alternative to MacOS and run any app that you could on it(i guess that would be binary compatibility). It would be a stretch but I think it’s an amazing idea and would love to contribute to it some day.

Oh, wow, Tom Lehrer has released all of his songs into the public domain. Apparently also his website will shut down "at some date in the not too distant future" so now's a good time to download directly.

"In short, I no longer retain any rights to any of my songs.
So help yourselves, and don’t send me any money."

Thanks @jwz and anyone else involved on here, except pmarca

i don't think i ever posted an #Introduction

i'm ben🌱ui, i like writing #UnrealEngine tutorials, mostly about #ui and programming. i've been in the industry for 8-ish years, working in tokyo, paris and now vancouver.

i'm like someone hit "default" on the "over-represented programmer character creator", so i'm trying to mentor to pay it forward, if you ever have questions about the industry you can always message me ♥

we're almost to 2023 and most newsrooms still have no idea how to respond to criticism from bad-faith actors. it's frustrating beyond belief.

Hi and welcome! 👋

I'm Gina aka foosel. I'm a nerd, full-time open source maintainer and creator of OctoPrint ("the snappy web interface for your 3d printer"), and in my free time I also happen to game (video games and boardgames), bake bread (since before the pandemic even!) or go bouldering.

Here’s a poem in the shape of a Christmas tree. It’s called ‘Needles’.

Lisp: :blobcatwine: these are the fine artifacts of old. sometimes when you are not looking it creeps in to your life. but, sometimes, it's just clojure.
Lua: :blobcatbeer: i'm not actually supposed to be here but someone decided to build a small universe entirely out of paperclips and it works somehow
Erlang: :comfypeek: have they found out i run the internet yet
Rust: :blobcrab: rewrite it in rust! then die waiting for it to compile
C/C++: :blobcatdevil: why yes, we did find out how to transceive satan directly in computer form [crashes]

2.5 years ago I took yet another shot at learning programming for games, so I can develop my goofy ideas without bothering anyone. It was fun at times, but largely frustrating, as I kept hitting walls I couldn't climb.

I tried finishing something simple; I tried porting/demaking; I tried reworking an existing codebase—but I never *finished* a single game.

This year, I'm "giving up" in what I think is the right way: pairing up with programmers once again. That has worked for me in the past!

Hey @pixelherodev,

Do you have a recommended C Programming book?
I've learned the very basics, but I'd like a proper intro to it. I'd love to be able to understand FOSS code well.
