finally! Wireguard is so much nicer imho than any existing solutions (I'm looking at you OpenVPN)
@alex_ That's cool. Used Open VPN in the past, and while it worked, it too a while to connect.
Now using ProtonVPN, and still amazed on how fast it connects on start up or returning from sleep mode. Awesomeness.
@alex_ I just recently discovered them, after an user at another instance posted a screenshot.
VERY impressed, specially since they DO offer a nice free option if people don't want to or can't afford to pay.
Testing it is easy, signup with an email, their client for Windows is only a 11 MB binary, installs without any problems and runs well.
Swiss precision and discretion at work, they are based there.
For a week I used the Premium service, a free one week trial, and now I am on the free tier.
This offers servers in 3 countries: Japan, USA and Netherlands. I have bench marked using both US and NL servers, and they get about 50% of my home connection rated speed.
The Iceland premium server I had selected previously and used for a week had lower usage and got to a higher percentage of my connection's maximum speed.
Really recommend, can be used on mobile or desktop/laptops.
https://protonvpn.com for details
@alex_ You are welcome! : :blobsmilehappyeyes:
Here's a screen shot. If you have their email, the VPN can come in a bundle for a little more. Check when you renew comes due.
@design_RG I've been using mullvad.net for my VPN, but I already use proton for my email so I might give them a go, thanks for the recommendation
(this instance has some great emojis btw)
