When I was new to Mastodon (last year), I followed people before I had a profile pic or any posts, and I'm not sorry.

I never had a Twitter account, and wanted to get a feel for how things work here (and whether I wanted to stick around) before I spoke up and potentially made an ass of myself.

I see a lot of people complain about this, and it's honestly puzzling to me. You gotta start somewhere. Starting by listening quietly is better than starting by saying things that rub ppl the wrong way.

@twistylittlepassages Those are good thoughts. Used to be common advice, when joining in a group or community., to listen politely before jumping in and maybe clashing with the locals.

Still a good thing, in my book. Have a good day, Amazey! 😃
