Trying out Pinafore🙂
@globcoco That is wonderful!!! Hope you like it.
One tip -- anytime you want to compose a message, wherever you are -- press '7' or 'c' (for compose) and you get an editor. Nolan told me that, I had no idea.
@design_RG Thanks for the tip.
It does work if I want to post something but not if I want to reply to somebody. But that is a really cool feature.
By the way, can you clarify smthg for me. If I have 2 or more accounts can they all be centralized in the same window in Pinefore?
@globcoco With Pinafore you can run one instance in one tab.
But also open another copy of Pinafore in a second or third tab, and switch the instance in those extra ones -- so now you could very easily be in 2 or 3 instances, side by side. That works really well.
To Reply in Pinafore there's a button under each post, click and a Reply Toot editor shows up.
@design_RG I'll definitely will check the one instance one tab method when I decide which instance to get into...
And here's something for the writer in you -- we can use more instance accounts to try and help spread our blogs. When I create a new post, when finished in Write.freely, I will prepare a Promo text file for that one.
and post that in my main account. Then jump into Pinafore and quickly switch to other instances I already have configured.
As I load each, I will do a search for that release post (I copied it's URL). Once it is found, I click Favourite, and Boost. Then switch to another account and do the same.
I believe that helps spread the post more, and it's nice for bloggers and active people, to support a post you are interested in. Very easy with Pinafore, mine has about 11 instances configured; most of them I use lightly, as we cant really be present and active in more than 2 or 3 at a time.
With Pinafore I think you will find it easier to keep your existing account, while looking around and testing some other instances. and there's no harm done if you create an account and don't use it much later. It can be left dormant, or deleted if it's really not a proper fit for you.
Long post
@design_RG
NICE!
I really have to dig into this.
I really want to use it fully as I don't want to use FB nor twitter. The only other network I have in on LinkedIn and I'm thinking about staying or going...
Really thanks for this!
Long post
@design_RG I'm just going to feed myself and my partner. And get back to you just after. Bon appétit.
@globcoco Bonne idée! Haven't had breakfast yet. Talk later!
@globcoco Sent you the invite.
Qoto is a mastodon instance, like your own Mamot account. Mostly English speakers, with a focus in science and STEM topics. But not strictly.
A good mastodon place to be.
Wordsmith.social is a Write.freely instance, so good for blogs, and has a very generous allowance for free users, reason I recommended it to you.
@design_RG
I do pay for my blog at write.as and I really would like to keep doing that so that they can keep on living and improving the product - for a price I can manage. How is it working on wordsmith (price-functionalities wise)?
@globcoco Write.freelyy instances are self funded and don't require users to pay, although some might accept donations.
It's not a bad thing to support Write.as - so they can keep advancing and improving WF. There are still needed functions.
At WF instances we don't get the Snap.as or other special things write.as has, for their paid customers. But the service is fully functional imo.
I never posted a single page at my write.as blog account, since I found the others more open and cost free.
@design_RG
Would love that. 👍
Is Qoto different from wordsmith?
