@dushman @bonifartius @dimi I mean... the whole point of selecting an instance is you are choosing an admin you trust to aid in moderation and exactly this sort of thing. I'm not sure personally why any particular server is on there, but if I didn't trust the admin of the servers I use to make a choice that benefits the vibe I want, I would move my account. That's the whole point of Federation!

It's very weird to Get Mad on this. If you want to argue your particular instance's case, you can.

@Chronotope @dushman @bonifartius I don't mind letting admin decide who or what to block. I am against them blindly outsourcing this task to strangers. The block list in question seems to at best be irresponsible, at worst toxic. So I'm glad I have a good admin who isn't using it—but I am disappointed that users of other, less discerning instances, will now be deprived unnecessarily of possibly meaningful connections because of the capricious whims of randoms.

Yeah I agree. My point was that blocking instances should be a conscious decision. Blind trust in people who make those blocklists is counterproductive.
