Can we afford to ignore the terrible consequences of creating a malicious AGI merely because the odds of it actually happening are infinitesimally small?

Of course, by the same logic, we should be deeply worried about being invaded by space scorpions from Sirius B, but for some reason no one seems to care.

@angusm @annaleen I honestly believe we're much likelier to be taken out by an asteroid than by A.I., and we're spending way less on asteroid defense.
