Someone phrased that in excellent words a few years ago, in a long argument. Summary from memory:
Centralizing a decentralized network makes it more efficient. The natural force in a commercial environment, where value extraction is key, will make the network converge to a single company.
So we need a (sustainable) "expansive/decentaliatory" force that counteracts this, if we want to keep it decentralized.
I'm still searching for that force, though.
