#introduction I came on here in order to be a new and better person to the one I was on Twitter, more open and respectful, less preening and rude. Lol, no, I came on mastodon bc I was doing a feature for the Guardian on mastodon, but in the course of it I realised I could stand to be less preening and rude. Hi everyone. I'm nice now.
@rozenberg @Jonathan_K resignation letter Part I?

LIFTOFF OF ARTEMIS I TO THE MOON
NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and the uncrewed Orion capsule lift off from Kennedy Space Center in Florida early this morning, with the capsule’s destination — the Moon — as a backdrop.

@collappsar It’s weird. Our local decent pizza place offered their own app about a year ago or so that allows you to order from them directly without involving any of the menu aggregators. They get a bigger cut, and the delivery drivers do as well. Wins for both. Ever since they explained how it hurts them to be on these services we’ve refused to use them.
@PippiLongstocking it was even better when we were there. If you look at my bio, the header photo is the same view, longer lens, on a different day. The changing light was amazing.
@PippiLongstocking here’s another one for you!

UK politics: Eustice
Eustice tells us he can now be more honest about the Australia deal and that, far from being the ‘good’ agreement he boasted about in the HoC, it’s a big pile of rubbish for the UK. And they call this democracy do they? Government abusing its power, lying to its citizens and signing deals that fail us, only admitting it when it’s far too late. Brexit Britain. Inadequate politicians screwing it all up and a largely complicit media pretending this is all fine. It’s so not fine.
@jim_easterbrook Apparently it isn’t a feature on the mobile versions yet. I mostly view through the Mastodon iPad app.
@RDHale thats an amazing addition to have...but could you please point me to where "said" button is as I cannot seem to find it?
@jim_easterbrook I was going to edit that post to add that I too used to take mainly slides in those days. I managed to scan them all in a few years ago. Now that I’m retired, I must get around to editing my imperfect scans.
I understand that, unlike the birdsite, you can edit posts on Mastodon. Could someone please explain how?
@jim_easterbrook Excellent shot! Brings back many memories of visits to Haute Savoie. I took the same photo more than once in the 1980s and 90s. Haven’t been back for a while and have recently been wondering how far the glacier has retreated. A return to Annecy, after 10 years since our last visit, is currently on the cards for next year. It’s one of my favourite places on the planet.
Today's random picture from my #Flickr albums dates back to 1984. In those days I used colour transparency film, and one of my many unfinished projects is to scan all my old slides. This picture is from a summer holiday and shows the Mer de Glace glacier as seen from the Chamonix mountain railway.
