@Az_ Not only profit but a lot of silicon valley thinks we can tech our way out of climate change.(and of course with profits) Tech will help but it won't be our savior. We have to rethink the industrial revolution mind set.

Public health has always to be a project of the political left - it is intrinsic to it because it involves collective action and because it has to focus on social conditions in order to work effectively.

It will always be uncomfortable terrain for conservatives for these reasons.

@TomSullivan @dcjohnson I have always considered Libertarians to be more problematic than the Republicans. They are utterly devoted to keeping government wed to only one side of our human nature. We are a species made of greed and empathy. Both are needed. But we have created a construct in capitalism devoted to only one side of our nature. And those that want to incorporate it in our government send us down a perilous path.

It is essential to the libertarian/oligarch project to discredit the idea that government can make people's lives better. Even public health.
