After 2.8 years our street now has 4 cases of Covid-19. (one to a person shielding due to high risk prior disease) Folk seem to have forgotten it still exists, spreads more easily even if it does not kill as treatment is better. However the Long Covid disability ranges wild, and disables, long term health
@AmpBenzScientist You have my extreme sympathy. the disabling permanent effect is noticeable in some folk in our village. It hampers their social and family life to an extent beyond what they expected.
@eionmac I still have stomach issues from it. It's not debilitating but I would enjoy being able to eat without the possibility of being in a lot of pain later.
I also had a seizure that I can't explain while on medication that suppresses them. I know it's not good but life will kill us all. I would just like to know what all it did after society has calmed down and properly researched the long term effects.
@eionmac Needs of the many vs needs of the few. We don't need to go back to when the economy had to have an IV drip and people dying due to lack of medicine.
I've never been vaccinated and I've had Covid-19 twice. My only long-term effects have been stomach issues. I got the early variants and the second time while disinfecting a hot area to keep infection rates down. I worked in IT.
The irony is that I became symptomatic the evening before I could get vaccinated with the previously unavailable vaccine. It's recommended that I not get vaccinated because it took over a year before I could get infected again.
Do I think people should be more cautious? Absolutely. Am I afraid of long term effects from a virus? No, it's fairly common with viruses and we all die someday.
I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
