"Benefits compared to what" is the question, I suppose. The advantage over just pasting things into Mastodon posts is that it's much easier to find just the ones with the nice images in. Inter alia.

The advantage over, say, instagram I guess is the lack of manipulative algorithms and so on, cf. Fediverse.
