So as an update: I am trying to stop using Kindle. As a test, two weeks ago I bought a comic from Kobo. I am still trying to read it on my Android tablet. The Kobo app has a problem with flickering white when changing pages with this one comic. Theoretically you can transfer Kobo books to other readers, but neither Pocketbook nor the Adobe Digital Editions app for Android can open the file. My current theory is these apps use an older version of the Adobe DRM than the Kobo ascm files.

I am trying to figure out if there is a Android app that can open up to date Adobe Digital Editions files. I will probably next try contacting Kobo technical support, but I have few hopes.

I think I might be able to read the comic in the Kobo web reader, which is apparently better the Android app, but I won't buy more comics if that's how I have to read them. If I pay money I want a better experience than DynastyScans or setting up some complicated Calibre piracy workflow would get me.

@mcc I've had a few dealings with support over the Years - email and web chat. They were useful and responsive.
