A few hours ago the package mailman showed up with a pallet full of brand new electronics, chief of which were a new sound system and a giant 55" LG OLED TV. It had our address on it and everything. I can assure you that even though we do need a new TV, we did not order anything. It's just not high on our replacement list

After a bit of confused looks - mailman only spoke Swedish - he showed me the recipient name on the shipment, which wasn't us. He took the pallet back to his delivery truck.

Now I wonder if we could've yoinked a free TV. 🤨

@thomholwerda Somebody out there is glad you didn't yoink a new TV, but it isn't the postal worker who had to load that pallet back into their truck!

@miah Heh yeah. I would never take a wrongly delivered item for myself of course, but it did make me wonder about the legality of taking it. I mean, it's delivered to our address. I wonder if a less honest person could successfully argue it's actually "fairly" theirs.

@thomholwerda @miah I’ve received stuff I didn’t order before (and didn’t even want) and nobody would even allow me to return it. Tried twice, waited a few weeks then donation bin here we go (never something as large as a TV).

I have a friend who received a (great) CPU like this, like fraud and shipped to his house to pick it up on the porch but he got it first. Nobody would allow him to return it as it wasn’t “his order”. IMO if you ask twice and wait 2 weeks, ethically it’s yours.

@g @thomholwerda @miah snap. Got a free lamp once as store refused to let me return it, courier refused to pick up for redelivery
