Out of interest, is there a way to hack old google chromecasts so you can stream anything to them, not just the approved apps?
Is that a thing anyone has done or worked on?
I am asking here instead of looking it up myself because I can only imagine I'll get lost in some reddit thread without a clear answer.

@limneticvillains I looked a couple of years ago for a "share screen to Chromecast" for linux, and nothing. Ditto for "wifi screen sharing" my TV supports natively. Really odd nobody has scratched the itch yet
