⚠️ Update: #Iran has now been cut off from the world for 36 hours with metrics showing connectivity at 1% of ordinary levels.
The internet blackout imposed on Saturday morning continues to limit Iranians' access to information as the war with the US and Israel widens regionally.
@netblocks sure it's Iranian implemented, and not the US and Israel cutting the hard lines?
@Mehrad @netblocks @Sassinake @irom I'm aware thanks. It's likely they pulled their own plug then you feel, rather than Israel pulling it for them?
@falken
Also, the telephones are only working one-way. Only from inside the country people can call outside (logically tapped). No phone call can be made from outside to inside. So this cannot be due to destruction/disturbance of the network, and it is a deliberate action by the gov.
@Mehrad @netblocks @Sassinake @irom wow, thanks for in-region details.
@falken
I don't know how to respond. So allow me to risk stating the obvious:
1. I'm Iraninan. This means I know how the system operates in general level
2. As I mentioned, this has precedence in every single war or protest
3. Current internet connection rate is about 4% and that's because of the Starlink modems. Read https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/u-s-smuggled-thousands-of-starlink-terminals-into-iran-after-protest-crackdown-69a8c74f
