Hope I'm not gonna regret this...
> Ordered: ‘fanxiang M.2 SSD 128GB,...’
Didn't cost a house, and the Pi really needs to get off SD, onto a UPS, with all our house uses it for now
@vague @falken fanxiang isn't a scam brand, but they do "build to a price point". It'll be the right size but the quality assurance before product ships may be less robust than a SanDisk, for example.
A big name brand may be less risk of failure but it isn't a guarantee. As with every storage medium one should make backups of anything important.
We are all in a cost crunch where we get to evaluate if an increase of risk is worth the dollars saved.
@just_one_bear @vague everything on the intended server backs up to the main house ZFS array, if the worst happens.
I'll torture test it a bit before switching root!
@falken
You won't regret it. I'm glad I moved to an SSD and UPS.
@falken you will regret it, if not for it being a 16GB drive instead of the promised 128, but reliability might be a big issue. It's worth the money to buy a reputable brand
