"ChatGPT Is a Blurry JPEG of the Web" by Ted Chiang. This is easily the best piece I've read about large language models.
Has a bunch of great new metaphors to seek your teeth into.

@adrian For those who don't know Ted Chiang, he's a sci-fi author who has two short story collections, one of which contains the story that was adapted into the movie Arrival. His books contain some of the most unique ideas I've read in a while. Recommended.
