I'm a professor of #environmental #chemistry with an interest in everything related to #climate, including molecular to global aspects of the carbon cycle, energy and social transitions, new and old technologies for sustainability, forests and biodiversity, local to international climate policy, and the systems thinking approaches we need to make progress.

Both chambers of the Michigan legislature voted to pass a bill repealing the state's right-to-work law.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer plans to sign it, making Michigan the first state in nearly 60 years to ditch one of these anti-union laws.
This is a big deal.

Definitely when ice cover nears 100% the lake effect snow is blocked and local temperatures drop.
Open water is necessary, but not sufficient, to generate lake effect snow. It also requires weather patterns that bring cold dry air over the water.
This year we haven’t had much lake effect snow; most of the storms have gone south of us, possibly because of ongoing La Niña conditions.
