found on the Thames foreshore this morning: a beautiful bone die with crisp carved dot-in-circle pips, typical of dice of the Roman period, 100-200 AD. #mudlarking

So today this very exciting thing happened. For the first time in my life I found some hair ice. I don’t even know what hashtag to use!!! It’s caused by a fungi so adding those tags 😉

@samueljohnson Thanks for the reply. I feared it might be rabbits over badgers. Not included on original post, but there were a couple of entrances with signs of fresh excavation, so hopeful it’s active. Had dog with me so couldn’t spend much time there but will go back alone and look for latrines and signs of rabbit droppings.
My first foray into #mosstodon ! This is in the #rspb Insh Marches near Kingussie #scotland. Sadly no little #birds flew in or out but boy is there a lot of moss!
Suspected badger sett. Stumbled across it today. Situated in a wooded park on sloping ground close to an open stretch of grass. Counted at least seven entrances, some with signs of disturbed earth outside. I wouldn’t have expected #badgers here but it’s not impossible, being on the edge of Epping Forest. Anybody familiar with #badger setts able to comment on likelihood of a badger sett based on the pictures? #NaturalWorld
UK Government has found a way to mitigate rail strikes by flying in non-unionised replacement workers to carry out essential maintenance work on tracks. Apparently they work for peanuts. #crows #strikes #MorningCommute
Chuffed to say that one of my engravings has been selected for the annual exhibition of the Society of Wood Engravers. The exhibition opens today at the Bankside gallery in London (next to Tate Modern), before travelling the country.

Working on a fantasy webcomic is rad, but one day I'll go back to my true passion: drawing useless cables everywhere.
Lovely fernery on this fallen tree over the River Lemon near Newton Abbot.
As a side note, the name of the river is apparently a derivative of ‘elm’ in Celtic languages (I’m sure Scottish, Welsh & Irish friends can confirm if this is correct!). I always wondered as there are not many lemon trees growing around here!
