Wow, so the elongated musk actually decided to block mastodon on twitter. Take that "freedom of speech"!

On the one hand, I enjoy watching Elon's hissy fits and tantrums. On the other hand, if Twitter collapses under his weight, I'll lose a community of almost 30 thousand followers. We've had our differences and heated discussions in the past, but we've learned a lot from each other

Hello, people! We are looking for a at the Department of Surface and Plasma Science, MFF Charles University in Prague. They will work on commissioning the trap that will store laser-cooled ions as well.

Hello #ScienceMastodon, this is the group account of the Multimode Quantum Optics group at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel. It will probably not surprise you that we work on everything related to quantum optics with many modes.

Possibly the most frightening talent of the brown bear is an uncanny ability to blend seamlessly into the environment in an almost chameleon-like manner, allowing them to easily surprise their unsuspecting prey.

Reposting #introduction

I'm a scientist working on #quantumcomputing at Quantinuum. I oversee our R&D collaborations and research in combining quantum algorithms and #machinelearning techniques. My main interests are #Bayesian and probabilistic approaches to #ML, #statistics, #GenerativeModels, #inference, #ml4science. In the past I was a researcher in #ultracoldatoms and #boseeinsteincondensates, and I enjoy #literature.

I hope we can grow a welcoming #quantum community on Mastodon.

Hi Fediverse! 🚀 👋 I'm Guen, physicist and software engineer, located in the #Seattle area, building topological qubits at Microsoft #Quantum. I'm vegan, a cat person and #Python developer. I love physics, science, tech, music and art. You'll often find me listening to Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt (vimeo.com/31357966). Toots will be in English and occasionally Dutch. #introduction

#introduction I'm Michael Goerz, a computational physicist working on #quantum #optimalcontrol. Initially, in the context of #quantumcomputing in open quantum systems (Rydberg atoms, ions, superconducting qubits), current applications tend towards robust #quantumsensing. Most of my time is spent developing methods and software. I have a long background in #Fortran and #Python. My primary language today is #julialang, working on the QuantumControl.jl package.

We have decided to create an account at Mastodon. We need time to learn how this platform works but also how to synchronize our work here with the Twitter account.

Thank you all for joining us here. No matter where we are, the mission stays the same. We are in social media to commemorate the victims of Auschwitz and educate the world about the tragic story of the camp.

So, I've joined the mass migration! Here's a wee #introduction:

I'm a science journalist interested in stories about people & science: how we generate evidence, how we use evidence, how we treat the people involved in the process.

New Scot 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, but always Saffa 🇿🇦, with an increasingly weird hybrid accent. Talk to me about bikes, running, music, and dogs.

In Episode 5, we heard from Dr Elliot Bentine about his work with the coldest atoms in the universe and...video game programming!?

If you want to hear more about how cold atoms can be used to detect gravitational waves, and how years at the lab bench led to a surprising side hustle as a game developer, take a listen to the full episode!

Our #Quantera project ApresSF produced a new result on distance estimation between #light sources. Generally speaking, spatial mode demultiplexing (#SPADE) offers a big advantage of the straighforward use of a camera. Here we show what happens when imperfections kick in and sources are not of equal brightness. SPADE is most advantageous when you detect few photons and when sources ar not too different.

It will be an honour to give a talk about the past and the future of state-selective electron-ion recombination experiments at the Symposium on Next Generation in Tokyo (nga-2022.webnode.page/program/). I am looking forward to socialising with like-minded researchers! Let’s bring the control to the !

After filling in government forms related to my visit to Korea, I must add one more item to the list of Wrong images of various nations. In addition to "hard-working Germans" and "Britons knowing manners", I shall add "technologically advanced Koreans". The inability to make a functioning mobile app or even a website working on more than one type of browser is staggering.

Technical note: The (hashtag)arxiv_xyz_uvw is designed to make posts that deal with this arxiv article searchable - because hashtag searches work across instances (and dots and slashes are not allowed inside hashtags, hence the underscore). Would be good to establish a common format like this for all our discussions of papers here!

#introduction Hi everyone! My name is Aggie.

I was a physicist in academia for a very long time, working mostly on #quantumoptics.

A couple of years ago I moved to IBM Quantum to work on various things related to #quantumcomputing software and research.

I like to write about topics that bridge academia and industry, like research, tech, and careers.

#introduction Hello world! I am a theoretical #physicist and this will be the account of my research group. We are interested in #machinelearning for #physics, physics for machine learning (neuromorphic computing), more general artificial scientific discovery, #quantum optics, #quantumcomputing, and topics like optomechanics and topological transport. I am director at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, Erlangen, Germany, and professor at the university in Erlangen.

Might as well share this here, we have two open positions for Researchers in Quantum Computing / Quantum Machine Learning with the opportunity to pursue a PhD at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) - Robotics Innovation Center in Bremen, Germany: jobs.dfki.de/en/vacancy/resear #quantum #jobs

The best way to increase everyone's feed diversity is to go follow interesting accounts on other instances :)
