Twitter's abuse policy can be defined by an imaginary line from the pubic bone, through the legs, to the coccyx. Describe anyone by referencing anything in that area and expect a ban.
Threaten a vicious blow to the temple - no worries, you're good.

@OutOnTheMoors You'd get a ban for the same thing on many servers in the federation. Particularly without a Content warning :)

@OutOnTheMoors True, but that only gets you so far. If you curse at someone then every server in the fediverse which doesnt find that acceptable will either ban you personally or the whole instance. So as such you still effectively get banned from interacting with large swaths of people should you behave in that way.

@freemo I think that's where moderators come in. Certainly, if I'd made an unprovoked attack. Probably not if it was in response to an unprovoked attack on me. That's what the system is for - and where Twitter completely fails.

@OutOnTheMoors Yes but you arent just dealing with your instances moderator.

Take a real example from mastadon. Many instances require content warnings on pictures of virtually everything, including pictures of food. For posting something as simple as a picture of some food you can get your account banned across many instances. Worse yet you wont even know it.

@freemo I'm not likely to be wanting anything to do with those instances. I have read and understand the rules of the ones I'm on, and I'm fine with that. It's how the fediverse works.

@OutOnTheMoors Yea I feel the same. My point is only that many of the problems you point out of twitter are here as well, just with a twist.
