@freemo I'll see if I can remember the article long enough.
@LWFlouisa Good video in the link too.
@freemo Is this Tim Berner's Lee? I loved some of his lectures. Him and Bruce Schneier.
Tim Berner's be like: Nope, stand down AI, I got me some internet.
@LWFlouisa I dont think it is. Got a link to your favorite lecture though?
@freemo I have one I vaguely remember: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF5-6AcohQw
I'm basically being brought up to speed on people like him, Witfield Diffie, and Schneier.
I think my last decade of hibernation is showing.:P
@LWFlouisa Nice thanks I'll check it out. Always like to hear from tech people with some serious experience.
@freemo Going to do a crypto blog later actually. Rot13 has the issues it has, so long as the alphabet itself is not randomized, before rotating it 13 shifts.
But with a mixed alphabet whose initial state is mixed, and the key is rotated thirteen shifts, then you have something that is reciprocal between you and an authorized person.
The knowledge that it's a rot13 would still be public knowledge, just not the specific mixed alphabet.
Give the public a little bit, without revealing it all.
@LWFlouisa Link me to the blog when you've finished writing it. I'll check it out.
If i seem a bit distracted its just because im spending a good portion of my bandwidth administering this instance. I customize the code to add new features, plus teaching the newbies about Mastodon.
@freemo IPFS is web 3.0, not Web C3PO: http://www.syfy.com/sites/syfy/files/wire/legacy/c3po.jpg
@LWFlouisa I <3 IPFS
@freemo Yea going to host my blog on it.^ ^
@LWFlouisa You should write a howto for that setup
@LWFlouisa Anytime your deploying an interesting and novel setup it is a good idea IMO.
@freemo https://www.lifewire.com/what-is-web-3-0-3486623 Article in reference.
@LWFlouisa I'll check it out when i get a moment (at work right now).
@freemo Lifewire in this article feels like it's trying to sell me something. It's trying to make me believe decentralization of virtual shopping malls and personal websites wont be a thing. And saying laptops will be obsolete.
Wont be switching to exclusively mobile until Replicant gets active again. And even then typing sucks on them.
