Mr. Bojangles is one of my favorite songs. Not only does it have a very rich an interesting African American history, but the lyrics are particularly special to me.

There is a part in the song where he says Bojangles always talks about his dog who he went everywhere with for 15 years and after 20 years since the dog's passing he still grieves. My dog passed several years ago and I always talk about her everywhere I go and keep her picture with me. There will never be a day I dont tell people about my little angel blue :)

@Blort I think its very hard for platonic human love to approah that of a dogs. You will never even question a dogs love because it is always so naively unconditional and pure. All we ever want to do is return that love but as humans we can never be as good as a dog at loving something. Best part is dogs dont care they love us no matter how much of it we can return/show.

@freemo I love the way Bromberg tells that story, it's one of my favorite recordings.

I am sorry you lost your friend. I know that when Wally & Molly go, I will be devastated.

@GeePawHill Blue has been gone for a decade now.. but I do still mourn her. The song makes me tear up, thank you. The loss of a pet can be just as powerful ass family.

@freemo I've lived with dogs my whole life, and I swear I genuinely loved them all. But not like Wally & Molly. Somehow, right dogs, right time, right place, right me, they are deeper inside my heart than has ever happened to me.

@GeePawHill Dogs wear their emotions on their sleeve, and that tends to strike a cord with most humans.. but like people dogs have different personalities and we will connect with some more than others for sure.
