You may check the federated timeline for a global view of the network, or local timeline to see posts by people who are also on mastodon.social like you.
If you look at the preferences page, you may pick which languages you'd like to see in those.

@Gargron I dont think the language filter works. I used it since day one and it doesnt even filter out chinese or japanese, let alone languages that use roman letters that may be harder to detect.
@freemo It works but people can choose a different language than they really post in and the automatic detection can be wrong too.
