Its funny, I agree with many of her points, disagree with some others. But her immature, childish, and uneducated way of speaking is hard to look past for someone in her position. In the end there are bigger issues and more offensive politicians (like trump). But still, every time she opens her mouth it is cringe worthy :(
@twdockery First off, as someone who has plenty of degrees under his belt I can tell you they mean **nothing** as to your intelligence. It speaks towards her hard work, but that is it.
As for Trump not improving in his role, well I dont expect him to. He simply doesnt have the character to better himself. If that speaks to Alexandria or not, that remains to be seen. But suffice to say she has had to conduct herself respectfully and formally in enough papers that she does know better, but like many liberals (and conservatives) she simply has no desire to be mature or respectful in her discourse.
Time we kick both of them out of office, we can reconsider them once they grow up. Political office is no place for someone to grow up, they should already be there before they join.
@twdockery Sadly she is not likely to be going away. As you say a symptom of the disease of immaturity that plagues the left lately. I entierly expect her and others even less mature than her to be the new face of the left in america.
The right has its own issues too, not so much immaturity, but issues that are just as bad.
You are pretty much screwed if you live in any english speaking country and actually expect sane politics from anyone, especially the general population.
@freemo @twdockery We occasionally get some sane politics here in Canada. Perhaps that's because everything has to compromise between Quebec and the West. But Canada isn't really a counterexample because it's not really English-speaking, being about a third French.
Quebec itself, no not that much sane politics.
@freemo Fair enough as to the meaning of degrees. Mr Trump claims a BS from Wharton, and I believe that the alternative meaning of BS is the more appropriate.
As to Ms Ocasio-Cortez, I think that she is symptomatic of the fact that millennials do not feel that the current leadership of the two major parties represents them.
I expect that the NY Democratic party will ensure that her district is drawn out of existence before the next election, as they'd rather not deal with her. But I also expect that she is not going away; she has a constituency beyond her district.
