@pschwede I think that it sounds reasonable to think that. But I dont use my opinions to formulate fact, I am a scientist by nature so I must form what is or is not fact based on the data. Human nature is often counterintuitive like that.

So while my instinct would be to agree with you, when i look at hte evidence it seems to disagree. We tend to see the most explosions in the areas that have the highest restrictions, not the opposite as you suggest.

But yes any children I have would be trained in all the stuff that requires a lot of responsibility and reward for the effort. The stuff with high risks if mishandled is the stuff that I find can be the greatest teacher. For example SCUBA. I'm a tech cave diver. I'm the one diving to levels that can easily kill a person with even a small mistake. In many ways not unlike guns in that regard. I find it very rewarding to have the discipline, skill, and respect, to deal with dangerous things.

I dont live in america, sadly I can not have guns here in the Netherlands without first getting the approval needed, and that isnt easy. I also have a home in america, I have a AR-15 there as my main gun but spend little time there.
