@wmarshall
Marshall, hi, founder and admin here. Do you feel this response on your part agrees with the Terms of Service of this instance? Yes they called you a dipshit. No, I have no idea if that was warranted or not. Even if it wasn't warranted you are on QOTO, he is not, block him and walk away. Name calling is not a respectful way to respond.

I will repeat the relevant part of our ToS here so you can make sure you agree with it if you decide to stay. But please be aware mocking or attacking individuals for being Trans **will** get you a ban.

Here is the quote from our ToS:

We are all adults here, act like it. Despite our belief in freedom of expression (free speech) we want to create a space where people are respectful to each other. Don't disrespect people; if they disrespect you then block them and move on.

@freemo @wmarshall @GoddessGrace @themorgangoats It sounds like the tranny attacked him for his religious beliefs, first.

>he has 46 posts, all of which are replies, and he's on the fucking debate me instance
>it's now 47 because he found this post and replied with "stay mad, [t slur]"

I don't think that people who act like bullies should be entitled to bully others and then hide behind a protected identity status. Not everyone likes using a block button. That whole thing where certain classes of people have to block their harassers since they know that defending themselves against harassment will earn them a permaban is the same shit Twitter does.

At least you gave him a warning, first.

@drump
If two people on QOTO both attacked each other and resorted to slurs against an entire group in doing so, then both would be warned and if it continued they would be blocked. As a general rule our policy at QOTO is "be the bigger man". But I do agree that we issue warnings first, and only block if it continues.

I consider the message I just left as a warning. You will notice the user isnt blocked yet. I let him know the behavior wasnt acceptable and waiting to hear his response before I decide on what action to take. If, in the future, he is willing to abstain from slurs and personal attacks then he might be allowed to stay.

@GoddessGrace@goodchristian.website @themorgangoats @wmarshall

@wmarshall Well I saw you call another individual a tranny in an attack as well. I dont know if they attacked you or not, because I am not an admin of their instance, so even if they did I couldnt act on it.

You are MORE than welcome to respectfully object to the way someone treats you. But if someone treats you poorly that does not give you the right to resort to prejudice slurrs. We dont do that here, we prefer the "be the bigger man" route. Explain why you find the behavior unacceptable if you wish, but do not engage in unacceptable behavior yourself.

Would it be acceptable if someone didnt like you for them to mock christianity and god and you in an insulting way? I would find that equally unacceptable if someone from QOTO behaved that way as well.

@wmarshall I'm sorry they treated you that way. I dont know the whole story but if i they were on qoto I would have asked they too act respectfully.

Since this is across the fediverse though I can only speak about our own members.

I do appreciate your understanding in raising above and showing respect and decency to others even if we feel they may not deserve it. I'd like us to lead by example, there is a lot of hate going around and I dont want us to add fuel to that flame. I'd rather us take the road of compassion and lead the way in that regard.
