8 years ago today I was hanging out at the Occupy Wall Street camp. It was a lot of fun there even if the people were a bit odd they were still good people.

@freemo There was a similar movement in Spain called 15-M. Before that most of the youth didn't care about politics and to some extent that has changed. I became very active since then. Many things still have to change but it was a good thing to start changing people's minds.

@DracoMagister In the end I decided I didnt agree with the vast majority of people involved in the movement. Though I do like the fact that it got people thinking and engaged it seems that it got people thinking in the wrong direction. But I like to go to these sorts of things before drawing conclusions.

In the end the whole mentality was either all government bad, yay anarchism, or the more moderate members basically thought "big business and millionairs/billionairs are bad" both of which I find to be inherently flawed and harmful ideas. But they were peaceful and willing to hear counteropinions so they had my respect all the same.

@freemo I also don't agree with some things many people had (for example all politicians are bad, like you said), but in the end it opened many people's minds.

In my case I had a vague understanding of politics and I started a research on my own that still continues today and now I think I do have a very well understanding of politics.

But I do think many of those ideas you find harmful maybe are not trully right but not harmful and I do think socialism is the way to go. And I do not say so because "it sounds good" but after research and thinking.

@freemo If you like to read a different point of view of the reality of the USSR, you could read this article.

Is not that they didn't do bad things and they shouldn't be blamed for them (like any gouverment), but many of the things they were blamed for are false or not totally true. And this also happens today with other socialist countries. The artice does a research on how the main lies were spread by western social media and have sources of it's claims.

You can still think capitalism is a better system, but that thought shouldn't be based on false facts.

@DracoMagister Can yu cite a false fact that I actually relayed at some point? I try to go out of my way to research any fact before I incorporate it into my decision making process. I am already well aware of the overwhelming amount of false information on either side in any issue, so that wont really be anything new for me to read.

@freemo I didn't say you used any false facts but that many "common knowledge" things are in fact false.

@freemo Sorry if it sounded that way, I didn't mean to accuse you of anything. I just wanted to share you the article and present more or less what it was about.

@DracoMagister I'm glad you shared it. Just isnt really offering me anything new most likely, ill have to read it when i get a chance but the data i used to conclude the horrors of communism s all stuff i researched first so will have a hard time making a case to the contrary is all
