@hugot I think for many your rules will cover the basics and that will be enough for you guys to grow.
I myslf am really picky as are many others though. Some are scared of undue censorship, others are scared everyone like them wont be censored. Very few people, in practice, want a balance (ironically). At some point or another you'll probably need to decide where you fall more specifically.
I dont think its nearly that simple. Every instance engages in at least some level of censorship. Don't believe me, here is a simple test: write a toot that says "fuck you" to the moderator of your current instance. Repeat said toot every minute for an hour then create a new account on the server and do it again, every hour repeat with a new account.. Guarantee you before the end of the day your accounts will start getting blocked and the email servers you used quickly blacklisted.
You cant have a functioning server without some degree of censorship. The question is simply which censorship is appropriate and which isnt.
@freemo I understand. Trust has to be earned. We try not to make promises we can't uphold.
We have stated a set of rules in our about/more section and expect users to abide by them. If issues arise and rules need to be adjusted, we won't hesitate to do so.
This is a new instance, and we haven't moderated instances before so we will have to learn as we go. But our goal is to be a reliable instance with active administration and moderation :)
