I'm going to experiment with one last new feature for #QOTO, not sure how well this will go or how well it functions but looks promising and a lot of people ask for it...
Group functionality!
Cool! Do you mean with the 'Group actor'?
A while ago I saw a 'Group account' that people could follow and send toots too.. Don't know the username anymore though..
@snder yes group actor, but having trouble figuring out exactly what that means right now. Any idea how it works?
@snder yea thats the one.
There should be options right?
@snder you would think, but I cant find any options anywhere in the running server
That's some weird shit indeed..
@snder I think its a feature gup.pe supports and mastodon is just complient with recognizing those servers as having groups but mastodon itself wont let you create a group just yet.. I think it may be a commit intended to be part of an incremental change to add groups but for now doesnt fully add the functionality.
Could be indeed, as far as I know there's also no DB migration for that yet
@snder I already have the feature live on QOTO and migration went fine (though I didnt use exactly the patch you linked)... I didnt KNOW I had the feature live though but I just checked and I do. So that isnt the issue.
Added so many new features yesterday apparently I added a few I didnt even realize I added :)
@snder Quick question. What version of mastodon are you running and if you go to this users profile inside your local mastodon instance, do you see a group badge?
I'm running the latest master code 😉
Yes, I do and I think that's the account indeed I saw it first on
@snder
Should show up on all accounts on gup.pe i think. You shoikd be running group actor code too then i think. I wish i knew someone on v3.0.1 to see if they see the group badge though.
@Bernie2000
@snder I think this is a start but I may need to implement it from scratch as a bot functionality.
@snder yea im noticing that right now, but im also hell of confused because the v3.0.1 tag occured sometime before that particular PR, yet somehow it is in my source already... so dunno.
Ah okay! I do know some time ago they indeed merged the code into the upstream. I also merged that code but no clue what it does
