Wow Trumps approval rating is suprisingly high, even higher than Obama's was around this time in his first term....

Sadly looks like Trump is going to get reelected. Hoping Pete wins though so I can vote against trump. Only thing that would cause me to not vote democrat is if one of the evil three win (Biden, Warren, Bernie)

@stragu Well Biden I know personally, he is a friend of the family. So my opinion of him is mostly based on what I know of him directly.

Warren demonstrated she will lie (or at least bring up nonsense and misrepresent it), as well as throw others under a bus as she does it. This is clear from the whole animosity with Bernie thing. It was disgusting and shameful how she acted. Its been a repeated pattern for her to use childish tactics and to otherwise lack any sense of integrity.

Bernie is more of a tricky character. I used to be a huge bernie supporter in the last election. But the second he supported someone as horrific as hillary it shows me he too lacked integrity. He is party-loyal rather than loyal to his own conscious, so the moment he showed that he lost my support. His policies of course would be devastating and I knew that even back then but integrity was more important to me so at the time when I thought he had integrity I was willing to overlook his poor policies.

@freemo thanks for explaining. so I assume your are looking at independents then? Who is there that suits you?

@stragu Been looking yea but dont see any who stand out to me or stand a chance. Hoping pete wins as i'd probably vote for him. If one of the evil three wins and there isnt a strong third-choice for me to go with then I might be forced to vote for Trump, which is a scary thought so I hope that isnt how it plays out.

@freemo so you would rather vote for Trump than Sanders? How come? Sorry about all the questions, but Iโ€™m genuinely curious and also understand from the description of your instance that you shouldnโ€™t mind questions :)

@stragu Questions are always welcome. As long as you are respectful you are always welcome to interact with me and question anything I say or claim, challenge my assertions all you want, always welcome.

A bernie vs Trump vote would be a tricky one. In the last elections I would have voted Bernie over Trump in a heart beat. But now I'd probably lean towards trump if i actually had to pick between those two and couldnt go third party..

My thinking is based on several points...

1) The democratic party and liberals in america right now are completely radicalized in ways I've never seen before in 30 years. de escalating this radicalization and reducing the polarization between the two parties are my absolute top priorities. So voting against the democrats is a higher priority than in past years

2) We have a looming economic crisis on the horizon due to things like automation changing the work dynamic. We are moving into a world where physical labor is not going to be an effective career to feed yourself and careers will need to focus more on highly skilled labours that cant be automated (your scientists, artists, mathematicians, programmers, etc). How we deal with that in the very near future is the second most important issue we face. The left seems to want to solve it by making things far worse, they propose absurdities like UBI, free money or other free social programs that will, long term, make the issue worse. We need to push for systems that instead support people into acquiring better skills and improve their marketability. In this regard Bernie would be an economic disaster both long term and short term. HE talks about increases taxes on the rich rather than lowering it and taking it from military, and giving that away to others. Trump won't fix the problem eithe r(we need free schools!) but at least he wont make it worse like sanders would, the economic fallout would be devestating.

3) Military... trump has been way better than most democrats and deescalating wars it seems.. I think he still does a shitty job but he is marginally better...

So yea those three points would likely get me to vote against a democrat like bernie.
