Any of you guys have evidence that #ConversionTherapy actually works? So far I have only seen evidence of the opposite.

@realcaseyrollins Well, how effective would it be if you went into conversion therapy to turn you gay? Do you think it would work, would it be hepful to you? It isnt much different for them...

@freemo I think it * could * work...but that's entirely my opinion, not fact based at all. As well as whether or not certain conversion therapy methods are humane.

@realcaseyrollins So you think if you went to a psychiatrist whos goal was to convince you be gay, it **could** work and you might walk out gay? Does that seem like a possible outcome for you personally?

I know for me, as a straight man, you could preach about the virtues of being gay all you want, I'm straight, you cant convince me to be sexually attracted to men no matter how hard someone tried. Its hard for me to personally see how conversion therapy could ever actually work.

What I could see is maybe someone caving to the humiliation or abuse to the point that they convince themselves they are straight, even act straight, but in the end I suspect they will just realize eventually they are still gay and probably have a LOT more mental issues for having repressed their true self for so long.

@freemo Well that effect is precisely what I'm referring to. From what I've read, conversion therapy is psychological manipulation, and it's reasonable to expect psychological manipulation to have psychological effects.

@realcaseyrollins Well yea, if your just saying somepeople coe out of conversion therapy thinking they are straight when they are not really, and all the consequences that has goes along with it.. sure, id say that probably has happened many times.
