@realcaseyrollins Jews as a people are wonderful people and all, but fuck Israel, cant say I'm too fond of Iran either though.
As far as I'm concerned Israel shouldnt even exist as a nation and its nothing short of genocide what they have done and are doing to palestine. So I am never going to be happy with the country from a government perspective. But I dont hold any ill will towards the citizens themselves or Jews in general.

Prior to WWII there were now Jews in Israel (called Palestine at the time). Palestine itself was populated entierly by palestinians and had a nomadic desert society coupled with a handful of urban areas, all populated by Palestinians.
After WWII there were a bunch of displaced Jews from the war who refused to go back to Germany where they used to live. As part of the talks at the newly forming UN (of which palestine was not included) they were given sections of land as their own taken away from Palestine without their permission, which they had no way to defend against.
Immediately the Palestinians of course objected and rallied against having their own sovereign land taken away from them. Other middle-eastern nations generally supported the Palestinians. As such a war for them to keep their homeland effectively began that continues to this day.
Since Israel/Jews were backed by much more powerful nations like the USA despite their much smaller numbers and otherwise lack of resources they had a significant upper hand and quickly fought back the Palestinians.
Over the years the Jews continually took more and more land from them for themselves and kicked out the Palestinians who lived there while the USA and other nations kept supporting the Israli side of the war effort.
Now in modern times most of the Palestinian land has been taken from them and owned by Israel. The Palestinians have been forced to live in very small plots of lands and effectively now survive in falling apart ghettos with little fresh water or education to sustain them and very little ability to fight back.
@realcaseyrollins That is the claim by the Jews, but when they say that they mean thousands of years ago, at which point they were kicked out and now "reclaiming" it after thousands of years.
The Palestinians however are the ones who have been living tghere over those thousands of years.

Basically prior to 1099 AD the land was inhabited by both Palestinians and Jews and from about 900 AD to 1099 AD they continually fought for the right tot he land, specifically Jerusalem.
In 1099 the Isralites lost and the Palestinians took over Jerusalem. From that point onward Israel was a Palestinian country, so for the thousand years since then it has been mostly exclusively Palestinian.
then in I think it was 1947 the "Partition Plan" took away the land considered the sovereign nation of the Palestinians and gave it back to the Jews, even though there were no Jews that had lived on that land in hundreds of generations and thus displacing countless Palestinians at the time.

Yup. Probably the most defended and misrepresented apartheid of modern times really.
@freemo @eletrotupi @realcaseyrollins@gameliberty.club Part of the difficulty of speaking out against the behavior is people have a hard time disentangling the Israeli state, Israeli people, Jewish religion, and Jewish people (many of whom are secular).
With so much anti-semitism in the US (especially now), speaking out about the Israeli stateโs actions can easily come across as anti-semitic.
@eletrotupi @freemo Yeah, I see both. Thereโs some cynical misdirection and some honest ignorance or misunderstanding.
Yes I've faced that problem myself. Despite the fact that I have never said a mean word against the jewish people themselves I have had jewish friends of mine disown me and claiming I was anti-semetic for actively posting anti-israel content.
Its bizarre as I often post anti-USA content too but no one things am attacking its citizens in doing so...

A mistake I make all the time is expecting people in an oppressed group to have more empathy than average humans and behave better around other oppression. Time and again I am proven wrongโIsraeli behavior toward Palestinians, gay peopleโs behavior toward bi, etc.
Humans insist on humaning.
Generally, sadly, oppressed groups behave worse simply because they are so hurt by the oppression they have received that it is hard to think critically, emotions overrule. I have sympathy for why and understand the consequence, but sadly it is ultimately extremely self defeating in oh so many ways.
@freemo Interesting. I had originally thought that the Jew originally lived in the land that the #Palestinians are currently occupying.
