Switching my avatar to raise awareness for some stuff that #Christian rapper #KB is doing for his merch line, #NativeSupply.

In light of #COVID19 and the lack of available masks, #NativeSupply is creating cheap, $15, FDA-approved masks and using the proceeds to help fight the invisible enemy.

The masks are currently on sale for $10, you can buy them here: native.supply/products/hga-fac

@realcaseyrollins HGA means something very specific to me so when I saw it here it confused the hell out of me for a second :)

@freemo Oh what does it mean for you? In the #CHH #ChristianRap community it means "His Glory Alone". A slight alteration of the English translation of "Soli Deo Gloria".

@realcaseyrollins

It is a term used in the Occult Magickal community to refer to the emanation of ones soul in its true form.. your "true self" in its rarified form. It stands for "Holy Guardian Angel" but does not really mean Guardian Angel in the christian or modern sense. It is an autonomous part of your own self, not external to you, and while it may seem to have its own will according to magickal practitioners it is really just a manifestation of your true self, your own spirit.

@realcaseyrollins Could be creepy to some I guess.

It has roots in christianity. In fact it is called Occult Christianity and forms of it were even taught in catholic schools back in the day.

For many its no more creepy than the idea of an angel :)

@freemo That's interesting. I'm not familiar with Occult Christianity, but that sounds a bit odd, considering that use of the occult is prohibited in the Bible.

I must say this reminds me a lil bit of what the Gnostics were teaching in the New Testament.

@realcaseyrollins Well technically witchcraft is prohibited in the bible. But the thing is, biblical teaching is itself pretty much witchcraft.

praying for god to heal your grandfather as you repetitively repeat the same prayer over and over again as you touch the beads on the rosary, or an exorcism where spells in latin are cast to compel a demon to leave someones body.. These are all about as "witchcraft" like as you can get honestly.

So where is the line, what really is the "bad" witchcraft vs the good christian sort of witchcraft?

@freemo Ah, I see. Those sound like Catholic practices. Catholicism adds extra doctrines and extrabibilical sources of theological though. I tend not to treat it as Christianity, but rather a spinoff.

It seems to me that Witchcraft and worshipping God are quite similar, both are appealing to the spirit realm. The key difference is Christians appeal to God, while in witchcraft, other deities and entities are appealed to instead. Which is probably why God prohibited it in the first place.

@realcaseyrollins Fair (though there are more spinoffs than just the catholic one that has mysticism in it, but thats another matter)...

So if the rule is just that you can only worship god then the concept of an HGA is not in violation of that. Accordinf to the theory your spirit, along with the HGA, were created by god, as were the angels. So by the definition you yourself just defined it really wouldnt be a violation of the "no witchcraft" rule.

@realcaseyrollins @freemo the bible condemns the occult but only reveals its true secrets within parables and faith.

@SteveTheDragon

The bible speaks of witchcraft not the occult, they arent the same thing.

In fact hiding truth inside parables is a very close to the defining quality of Occult.

@realcaseyrollins

@realcaseyrollins

Well, depends. I would say whether christianity is different than occult depends entierly on how you practice and view your particular christian faith. It certainly walks the line..

Here is a good test. Do you feel you can explain the whole of christianity through a simple explanation of what christianity teaches.. or do you have to practice is and become connected to something beyond just the words in order to learn the true lessons of christianity?

The occult is any knowledge which can not be conveyed through simple explanation, where the words arent enough, they cant simply codify the knowledge like you could with math or science. It is knowledge which exists deeper and must be expiernced in order to be known.

The translation of the word "Occult" means hidden, or more specifically "hidden knowledge", it is nothing more than mysticism that cant be taught in a book without the active participation of the reader.

In that said myself, and many others, would consider christianity part of the Occult, or at least, some forms of it.

@SteveTheDragon

@freemo @SteveTheDragon Yeah many forms of Christianity are definitely occultish, particularly when you get deeper into charismatic/prosperity gospel/pentecostal theology.

@realcaseyrollins

Its important to recognize the difference between these words:

mysticism

magic/magick (latter being crowley's spelling)

Occult

witchcraft

All of these are very different things, even though some practices include them all or some of them.

@SteveTheDragon

@freemo @realcaseyrollins my mom joined pentecostles and oh boy do they have some deepest lore. Lol.

@SteveTheDragon @freemo Ha. At my #Christian college (it's mostly Baptists in the vein of the SBC, Southern Baptist Convention) we all make fun of them and their...flamboyance.

@SteveTheDragon

It is a hoby of mine to study religions and i have a particular interest in religions with "deep lore" and occultism as a defining quality.

One reason I find the catholic branch of christianity so curious is they really turn that shit up to 11.

If you dont know what I mean or are curious as to some examples just check out the DOMA plates which used to be standard teaching in CDC back in the day.
