I feel like we need a term that means something similar to "All Lives Matter" but without the anti-BLM connotation that phrase has. Somethign that means a more positive version of that (truly that all lives matter)... I'm thinking I'm going to start using for that in the future. Hopefully it will be more unifying a phrase.

@freemo It will make a lot more sense once people stop eating animals. At the moment they're treated like commodities whose lives don't matter at all. Saying #LivesMatter while eating animals is basically a joke.
@alex @freemo I read an argument about how saying "all lives matter" in response to "black lives matter" is like saying "all lives matter" in response to "human lives matter"

Yes, all lives mater, but now's not the time or place to be vague and pretend we're all facing the same struggles. All lives *will* matter when black lives matter.

@kaikatsu

I guess that depends. Animals arent likely to unify along humans to try to stop the problem. So picking such a phrase isnt going to do much good.

The point of ALM vs BLM is to show that even though the problem may effect blacks 40% more than people in general, it still effects the general population to a huge degree. So we should pick unifying language and not argue about who is getting fucked over slightly more than someone else.

Its like some bully in school goes around and punches everyone in the chess club in the face every day, but billy he punches twice every time he seems him.. it is silly to try to rally the chess club to fight back by going "billy's life matters" and makes way more sense to go "Chess club unites!"

@alex

@freemo @alex I don't think anybody thinks BLM is saying nobody else matters; but its emphasizing an important injustice.
ALM is like how liberals painted over "eradicate rent" with "eradicate hate" on a billboard.
Okay, yes, that's a more vague, more applicable and easy to digest statement to the masses. But it misses the point.

@kaikatsu

No one is saying BLM suggests all lives dont matter. But again the school chess club analogy... when everyone is getting punched in the face your going to pretty ineffective if your rally cry focuses ont he small minority getting punched and doesnt try to address that people are getting punched as a whole. You simply wont rally people int he same way or be more effective in doing so.
