I was notified that @tateisu's Mastodon app "Subway Tooter" has received a warning from the Google Play Store citing user-generated content that "incites discrimination".
A Mastodon app does not host or promote any content. The user types the address to connect to. The responsibility of moderating resides with that server. So unless Google is going to drop Chrome, Firefox and Opera from its platform, this is completely out of line.

Just FYI I posted about this on my own feed and the post seems to be taking off at approaching 200 reboosts here, and I cross-post to twitter and its starting to take off there too even though the account there isnt too active.
I have a few friends in google I'm tempted to ping though I doubt they would be able to know or do anything. I am also tempted on passing this along to some of my tech reporter friends see if they want to pick up the story.
Yea I'm going to reach out to them today, I could see them potentially being interested in this especially with all the recent talk about social media in the context of censorship and monopolies when this is an example of a monopoly suppressing competition with these other social media networks that are being criticized for not having competition.
Apparently My post I linked in my last comment is also in the #1 place on hacker news right now with over 500 comments. Cool!
