Deep fried octopus rings
@ScumbagDog I think your thinking of squid.. they dont make rings :) .. that said deep fried octopus would probably be just as tasty as squid. Sadly I dont have a deep fryer and dont really want to do that on the stove.
@freemo
Alternatively if you prefer the western kitchen, steamed octopus with hollandaise and potatoes (or whatever side you prefer really)
@ScumbagDog hmmm never made a hollandaise sauce, but I am familiar with its taste.. I could see that working.
I was thinking of maybe just going with sushi in a bowl.. make so mijin-ed rice (sushi rice basically), chop up the octopus, and just add a little lemon to the octopus maybe.. super simple
@ScumbagDog that would certainly work, or even soy-vinaigrette as a kind of fusion deal.
The mijin I have is more of a cooking rice wine than a rice vinegar. Basically the more expensive version of sushi rice but still traditional. I do have some high quality balsamic vineger in though too that I could play with.
The key will be whatever I come up with needs to pair well with an aged sake I have.
@ScumbagDog well thanks for the great suggestions though.. i might use some of it.

I'm not too well versed in the Asian kitchen, so you're probably better off without my help.
But bon appetit anyways.
