@Coyote

Oh wait I messed up on the math.. that tip you gave me is worth 10$.. wooo! :)

@10grans

@freemo @10grans

Can't be $10. Because if 1 is like $11, and I only had 2 max'ish, I couldn't have had more than like $20, and I know I didn't tip you half. Wait, did moon make it rain in the thread doing that maybe, what's your balance?

(Stop making this real, it's distracting! LOL)

@Coyote

I transferred what you gave me out of the bot and into my hardware wallet, lol. But you can see my hardware wallet address with your tip in it, and it clearly states its worth 10$:

@10grans

@freemo @10grans

Oh shit. I need to find an alex jones post to tip...

Na fuck it. I think he's entertaining as fuck (if you don't take him seriously). So..

@10grans tip 0.1 to @AlexJones

That's worth it for laugh value alone. Now Alex has received crypto through fedi! Queue the FBI!
@icedquinn @10grans @Moon @freemo

Ok, I thought I figured it out. I thought I was putting two spaces accidentally (copy paste) between "to" and the username, and that was making the tip fail. Now, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong again.

10 grans, interesting tipping system?

@adam @Coyote You're a bitcoin maximalist, right? Lightning network and all that, it's cool, many of our friends are too.

10grans is gonna donate to the show sooner or later, we have some fans in your community that would love a shout-out.
@Moon @adam

Dude, don't bother. He's on vacation, and just fucking dissed your bot for your choice of the word "tip" to actuate a transfer. I'm offended, I enjoy it.
@icedquinn @10grans @doktorzhivago @mystik @Genen @Johncdvorak @genen @freemo

Wow, well officially "Fuck Adam Curry" on that one, what an absolute fucking asshole comment about the new crypto that has a cool feature to share though fedi.

I still think it's very cool that someone invented method of transferring crypto through Fedi. People start using it and talking about it. Adam gets a token in a conversation about the crypto and responds:

"I don't work for tips"

Not only dismissive of the whole concept of transferring money directly in Fedi, so hung up on semantics that he's being a complete dick-wad in the middle of the conversation pretty much insulting the whole concept (while pocketing the money, rather than returning it), and walks away.

Fuck Adam Curry. We could insult his work too, but, to easy. I've seen people call others words I won't even fucking use on Fedi this week, and that was the coldest, rudest, most egotistical, unnecessary insult I've seen all week. (week, not year). I will continue to "spend" 10Grans on people I have on comments I value. (value for value?). I'm not going to insult a guys whole project just because a BOT uses the word "tip" to activate. Again, total dick move Adam, total dick move. Fucking rude.

So fuck it, I cut his name out, and this whole thread had been informative to me, and I learned a lot, so when some people are jerks, others need to step up and show appreciation. so.... I'm going to ignore the hater and keep having fun.

Neato! I'll have to check him out before I form an opinion.. MTV VJ bit was neat, I miss the 90s :)

Just did a little googling on him.. Turns out he has a HAM radio callsign. So he gets a pass from me :)

@mystik

To be fair whether or not something is an asshole thing to say or not has very little to do with how true it is.

@adam @10grans @Genen @doktorzhivago@liberdon.com @Johncdvorak @genen @Coyote @icedquinn

@mystik @10grans @Genen @Johncdvorak @adam @doktorzhivago @freemo @genen @icedquinn

That's a fucking lie. Define "tips."

"Value for Value" isn't "tips" by a subtle distinction. Not worthy of dissing a whole crypto-fedi project to cop a superiority attitude.
@Coyote @10grans @Genen @Johncdvorak @adam @doktorzhivago @freemo @genen @icedquinn

Value for value is great, and the crypto bot too.
I plan to have fun with them in the future.
@freemo @mystik @adam @10grans @Genen @doktorzhivago @Johncdvorak @genen @icedquinn

Adam's good, good voice, great engineering, show is a joy to listen to (usually). But it's John C. Dovorak that makes the show IMHO. Adam's kinda the "side kick asshole comic relief." You should check it out, it's worth listening to, if you have 6 hours a week you can spend on it (I usually don't).

@Coyote

I have very little time for video and voice medias just because they tend to be a low-bandwidth medium. I am a very fast reader so by sticking to written mediums I can fit in everything I want to fit in and still get work done.

That said I will check it out though I doubt id be able to get into it fully, I dont have 6 hours a week for taking shits let alone listening to a podcast, however good it may be.

@icedquinn @10grans @doktorzhivago@liberdon.com @mystik @Genen @Johncdvorak @adam @genen

@freemo @icedquinn @doktorzhivago @mystik

I think this all started because you called me an asshole about something, and I saw I was kinda wrong, and the fight you put up to show me something true was worth something to me, so I envoked the tip bot... LOL

@Coyote

Technically I said something you said was idiotic and made you look stupid.. never said you were an asshole, I mean you are an asshole, but I didnt say it :) lol

@icedquinn @doktorzhivago@liberdon.com @mystik

@freemo @icedquinn @doktorzhivago @mystik

Yes, anyone willing to help someone else not look so stupid, when that actually takes effort, deserves to be thanked.

Well in that case, I'm your man :) The conversation was a productive one which is always the most important measure in my book.

@Coyote @icedquinn @10grans @doktorzhivago @mystik @Genen @Johncdvorak @genen @freemo Woohoo. Triggered. We need price discovery for creative content. Positioning it as as "tipping" is not just semantics. Words matter. Change your words, change your world.

@adam @icedquinn @10grans @doktorzhivago @mystik @Genen @Johncdvorak @genen @freemo

There you go! Thank you for actually engaging the discussion about the merit of the project.

@10grans tip 0.0001 to @adam
@adam @Coyote @icedquinn @10grans @doktorzhivago @Genen @Johncdvorak @genen @freemo

If I understood correctly, your post's message basically is "do I look like a waitress to you? gimme moar, bitch!".
@adam @mystik @10grans @Genen @doktorzhivago @Johncdvorak @freemo @genen @icedquinn

Dude, aren't you saying you just want people to not make you have to set up a wallet to transfer another form of currency? But, your main message is decentralize and distributed? Doesn't add up Adam.

Your system has never got me tips on fedi. And I provide some rich comical content that's paying off in sweet sweet 10grans.

@mystik

The bot itself is, but the coin and blockchain they pull from isnt. I can transfer you 10grans without going throught he bot or I can set up my own bot that is able to hand out 10grans in the same way as the main bot. The bot is just a gateway to a decentralized tech.

@10grans @adam @Genen @doktorzhivago@liberdon.com @Johncdvorak @genen @Coyote @icedquinn

@mystik

What do you mean by "not your keys" exactly? or for that matter "only for tips" what else would a tipbot be used for that isnt appropriate?

@10grans @adam @Genen @doktorzhivago@liberdon.com @Johncdvorak @genen @Coyote @icedquinn

@freemo @10grans @adam @Genen @doktorzhivago @Johncdvorak @genen @Coyote @icedquinn

Not your keys -- not your coins.

The bot owner can run away with your coins at any moment (or a hacker, rogue datacenter employee, whatever).

@mystik

That is true only for as long as you let the bot hold your coins. Ideally if the bot ever has more than a dollar of your coins as a balance you tell the bot to just transfer it to your own key, problem solved. Now the only risk is limited to the amount of your balance you leave in the bot in the first place.

Yesterday I noticed I had 10$ worth of coins in the bot, so I withdrew my coins from the bot, now their mine and safe, and about 5$ I left in the bot for "spreading around" money.

@10grans @adam @Genen @doktorzhivago@liberdon.com @Johncdvorak @genen @Coyote @icedquinn

@mystik

I'm not sure what else a tip bot could be used for inappropriately that is not tips... You mean storing large amounts of money for investment? In which case I agree, for that you make sure you withdraw large amounts fromt he tip bot should you get large tips.

Ah, yes, at this particular moment, Moon could run away with all the 10grans the bot tracks (but not any on the market).

But, given that Moon's basically giving them away, no one has been buying them outright (we talked about that yesterday, almost worth putting some cash in to tip people you like, I'd consider it if I had spare cash).

So, the losses are not "real" to many people yet, so it's worth the risk. The bot's not a bank... yea... but... given the risk, and what is obviously working as a fun "reward" system, I'd say it's worth using, extensively, with low risk, in the hopes that it will develop to something people are more "safe" with. Maybe just need to write "wallets" into Pleroma?

@freemo @mystik @10grans @adam @Genen @doktorzhivago @Johncdvorak @genen @Coyote @icedquinn it sounds like he means "not your keys, not your coins" or that if you don't have the private keys (which exist on the bot or the CEX side) that you don't have "control" of your coins.

Example, you put coins on Coinbase & then they ban you & then no more coins.

@joshbdoc

Right, but you can just withdraw your keys from the bot to your wallet. So I'm not sure i see that as an issue, just never let your balance on the bot accumulate to anything large enough that it is more than the relative trust you have for the bot... For example keep 1$ max in the bot at any time and always withdrawl the rest to your own wallet.

It would also be trivial for moon to add a auto-withdraw feature where if your balance ever exceeds a certain value it automatically withdraws to your own wallet.

@freemo @joshbdoc @10grans @adam @Genen @doktorzhivago @Johncdvorak @genen @Coyote @icedquinn That would be nice, a wallet that does all this automatically, so the centralized part is limited to moving coins only.

Basically what LN does (yes, it is centralized).

@mystik

Yea but keep in mind you can do that already manually.. you can withdraw and depost to the bot from your own private wallet.

Write me a how-to? If it "can" be done, this is the first crypto I've owned since I lost a bitcoin wallet in like 2013.
