I wonder just how many miles of the surface of the planet at this point is dead life. Soil. afterall, is mostly dead and long since decayed leaves, trees, plants, and animals.

Does that include ocean bottom ? Like all fishing boats dragging the ocesn floor ?

@lefarfadet Sort of... for starters the earth is old enough that areas that are ocean bottoms were once forests and vice versa. So over time they are a mix of sediment depending on how long they existed as each.
A large portion of the bottom of the ocean is made up of the decaying bodies of ocean animals and their poop.
