If you do not wish to elaborate that is acceptable, but understand that i and others are still very curious about this situation. They (jojo) is still deactivated from nodes such as mine.

Sorry I took your reply as sarcasm, I guess it was either meant more as condescension than sarcasm, or maybe i misread.

I am also on the fence about listing them by name simply because his friend group and who he respects I think is obvious and so its an easy thing to judge for yourself without getting into a character assassination war.

P and jojo are best buds. I've had a history with both in one sense or another since FSE first arrived on the fediverse (FSE I was started not too long after QOTO as I recall). I used to be quite supportive of both but when one of FSE users literally started making death threats, and then once the person was blocked stated publicly he would make multiple accounts to circumvent the block the admin (P) was notified and he lost his shit because QOTO was considering defederating due to lack of moderator action.

QOTO doesnt defederate easily, rude or even racist users wont lead to defederation for example. Our only rule is that if an admin/moderator doesnt act on clear cases of users creating accounts that are used to circumvent bans then and only then do we defederate. So FSE was being debated for defederation on those grounds, and ever since then P went nuclear. His very fragile ego doesnt take criticism well and he will forever be vengeful if he is forced to loose control of a situation.

Anyway since then I stayed on good terms with jojo regardless until the most recent incident. The instance of P loosing his shit and thinking random people, including his own users, were me and blocking them was because I mentioned I had alts somewhere on the fediverse and found it funny how P went out of his way to unknowingly follow all my alts and reboost their posts unaware he was following me.

We do not require PhDs or any credentials to join QOTO. You simply need to be in a STEM field or studying/interested in STEM, even just as a hobby.

I do meet your criteria, but I dislike the mastodon look and i feel the kind of posting, nothing offensive, i do would not be very welcome on qoto

The only vetting we do is to ask someone if they are in a STEM field or what area of STEM they study/engage in. The only people who get rejected are the people who say "none".

Many of our users are PhD's, some have no education and just work as programmers, yet others just love talking about STEM. No real restriction as long as you love and are interested in STEM.

As for the kind of posting you do if that is welcome. I do not know much about your content, I'd have to review it. You can read our rules if you are in doubt. If it is nothing offensive, and it isnt explicitly anti-STEM in its nature (the earth is flat, and all scientists are trying to spread a conspiracy that the moon is real) then you are probably ok.

In terms of social atmosphere, there is an expectation of respectful discourse to a point. but when people do disagree and get heated, which is rare, we just ask they mute eachother and move on.

@freemo when lancet issued the letter than covid-19 absolutely came from bats, it was because daszak bullied the panel that it would be racist to suggest the lab made it. so they issued the letter, daszak was later found to have deep conflicts of interest and they later retracted it (which lead to facebook suddenly allowing people to post about lab leak theory again) and daszak was ejected from the covid origins panel.

they essentially sent the man to investigate himself for wrongdoing.

the dna evidence strongly suggests wet lab. It does not however suggest that it directly hoped from a bat but rather likely made at least 2 hops, the hop from bat happened before entering the wet market most likely at which point it made additional hops within the market since it had already generalized.

Sadly trans people invoke some of the nastier primal tribal instincts in people. It invokes a lot of hate even before they open their mouth. This is ultimately why i try to go out of my way to show my support for their choice, no one should be hated outright for a choice they make with their own body.

LOL I know right. This is why even as someone who is vaccinated I take a very strong position against vaccine mandates. No one has a right to tell you you have to put a drug into your body no matter how convincing an argument they may or may not make.
