I've encountered this mentality during my time as a left wing activist. If you fall into certain categories (white, hetersexual, cis-male, etc), there is literally nothing you can say which is not racist. if people have acculturated to it via osmosis, then they've been spoon fed it in theory at school. the kinds of intellectual and emotional contortions people will go through to make you into an enemy is astounding. it didn't take long to back away and go find some more reasonable and constructive people to work with. to say nothing of the existing and future potential policy implications of that kind of ideology.
