@freemo Wow, Qoto instance doesn't block any other servers. I wonder if that freedom extends to the ci.im instance that harassed a physics professor, a person of color, resulting in its being defederated.

I ask because @DianMo is caught up in trying to leave but is locked in because others have blocked her instance.

Will qoto accept her transfer? Dian, I'm copying you as an FYI in case that's possible and you decide to depart that way. #ntt

@freemo Thank you for your prompt response. I wish I'd know about you all sooner. Oh well, I like it here at hcommons.social but I will keep qoto.org in mind for colleagues who align to STEM, etc.

Well, @DianMo , I hope that works for you. Best of luck! If you need help making the move, don't hesitate to ask. I haven't gotten around to writing a tutorial for transferring to another instance, but it's fairly straightforward.

@mguhlin

It would have been great to have you, but the beauty of the fediverse is we can connect anyway.

QOTO has a ton of features though and one that maybe be of use to people who are considering moving is our timeline/instance subscription. You can effectively bring the local timeline of a foreign instance into your account. so you can set it up so a column locally on QOTO is a reflection of the local timeline on the instance you are coming from. This helps make you feel likeyou havent lost anything by moving.
