Ugh, somebody let porn into the federated timeline on QOTO. 😠 There's no way to get rid of it without blocking the user or domain each time it pops up, and that's not very practical. I guess this is where an ML-curated timeline like Twitter's can shine, simply not showing undesired content of this kind.

@gabe April fools joke? As I understand QOTO doesn't curate a lot of the federated timeline and that's wanted behaviour (there's clear policy on local timeline for QOTO users). It's the user responsibility to block some. Found this for example which is a domain block list apparently created by @freemo though I don't have evidence or a point to a source that confirm the genuine origin in the article

@wihou @gabe

Tbis is exactly right, our federated tineline is open so users can pick what we want for ourselves. There are blocklists one can import to make that easier. Thr ability to block whole instances, and not just people, makes that easier than with other platforms.

@freemo @gabe thanks Freemo. Tagged you here to confirm you have some involvement in that Blocklist shown in the article. Can't find anything stating your involvement and I have trust issues with articles found on the web :)

@wihou @gabe Indirect involvement. It was curated from the original fediblock list, one of our users did the work i just promoted it heavily. (see my pinned toots).
