I just had someone tell me that recognizing there is such as rules to the english language is the same thing as being anti-trans... this is on a post that had nothing to do with any topic related to the LGBTQ community (it was on a post asking the proper spelling of "no one"). Man you can't even make this stuff up.

@freemo I'm sure any trans person would tell you prescriptivism is directly anti-trans and is actively being used against us. Kindly fuck off and ...

@thatguyoverthere Well sounds like both of us are transphobes then or something...

@freemo I guess that's the cost of thinking such a thing as proper speech exists.
@freemo not even speech really. Just spelling. Is this a boundless restriction on any prescriptive ruleset? There is no requirement to follow the rules in writing bit they do exist.

I'd say your being absurd... but we are literally at the point where recognizing spelling exists at all is transphobic... so... i just dont know...

@freemo I just wonder because they say "prescriptivism is anti-trans". If applied specifically to gender I can at least understand why the claim is made, but any "game" has prescriptive rules you have to adhere to in order to play, even drinking games like bullshit. The idea that acknowledging prescriptive rules exist (whether you follow them or not) is anit-trans has pretty wide reaching implications.
