They freaked out over Little Mermaid because the hero was supposed to be White. Now they're freaking out over Barbie because the hero is supposed to be Male. They freaked out over a beer can because the spokesperson wasn't Straight.
There's nothing here to analyze here, folks... #bigotry

The beer one I can 100% agree with, nothing but bigotry. Less so, but I do tend to agree somewhat on Little Mermaid. I mean, I do get the need for accuracy against the book, and she is white there. Moreover it just makes logical sense (a species evolved out of the sun would be white). But it isnt super critical to the story so I dont really get why its a big deal other than bigotry.
Barbie I havent seen much comments on either way, so I have no opinion.
